Production Blog: The Journey
Production Blog: The Journey
This is the last entry that will be put into my production blog before my final task is uploaded. I am very excited to be able to see such a major project come into fruition after months of planning. This is the first time I have completed a project of this type that has required so much careful planning and preparation of so many different things. This project has taught me both cinematography skills as well as life skills including patience, determination, and perseverance. I am very excited to be able to present my finished product for the first time. I already can see that the project has many flaws, some which I simply can't resolve, but I think the fact that I am still noticing these flaws is a testament the education that I have received within AS Media. I am still criticizing my work and seeing places where I can improve; even now I am tweaking footage and adjusting clips to a degree that most likely won't even make much of a difference in the finished product.
To me, it is strange to think that this project was a somewhat random idea that I came up with a few months ago. To go through with it and see the idea come to life in front of me, step by step, is truly a beautiful thing. Prior to taking this course and beginning this final task, I would not have even imagined that I could make anything even resembling a film. While I had some experience with video editing, acting and the wider world of cinematography was completely new to me. I had a truly unique experience in this class as it lined up well with my Communications Technology class where I furthered my video editing and graphic design knowledge. To be able to legitimately apply the things that I learned so frequently made my passion for both classes a lot stronger. I am grateful to my teachers and truly happy that I selected this course. My eyes are even opened to the possibility of a career in the film industry.
One thing unique to this course is the fact that each aspect of it is interesting. In other courses, the curriculum is split like usual, but there will be that section or chapter that you simply do not enjoy, regardless of its difficulty. However, in this course I enjoyed every aspect of it, from learning film terms, to acting, editing, and researching a variety of films, and taking in a plethora of industry-specific information. I definitely hope to pursue the A-level version of this course in my senior year and hope that I can retain and apply all the skills and knowledge that I gained from this course.
