I wrote about the search for actors in my last blog. It was a problem finding actors. It made all of us very nervous. But, something made us more nervous. That thing is scheduling. Scheduling is very tricky. Especially when one of our groupmates has a job. The job is only part time, but it is hard to change working shifts. So, when filming day approached, we had to work around his job. His job had him working Sunday, Friday, and Wednesday. So, we planned to go on Thursday. This was so we could have an extra day to film in case anything went wrong. But, what we didn't know is that our other group mate had a part time job as well. He had just started his job and could not take days off. If he took a day off during training, it would look very bad on him. Usually, this would be good news but, one of the days he had to work was Thursday. So obviously, we couldn't film on Thursday. So...
Our film's pitch was "A group of friends explore a creepy forest and mysteriously die one after another." Right off the bat, the pitch sounds like that of a dramatic horror movie. That's because it is. Our vision is for a scary movie with dramatic moments. But, we are not sure of the specifics yet. We think we will possibly make the movie of the horror, thriller, or drama. But, that is only possible if there is an abandoned building available. Also, we plan to have killing in our movie. We are not sure what the killing will look like, however. Killing is a popular staple of the horror genre. However, we do not want to confuse our idea with a film that includes killing but is not horror. Another genre we ...
Filming Blog: Mickel Park All the filming for my commercial was completed on Saturday, October 31st. I played the role of both director and actor in the filming process. The filming was done at Mickel Park, a park near my house. I made sure to bring my costume which was just some athletic clothing, as well as the prop, a Smartwater bottle. I ran a bit before filming began to gain the sweaty and athletic aesthetic. As the director, I made sure that my camerawoman was aware of how the commercial was meant to be filmed. I directed her on how to move the camera, where to stand to get the proper shots, and when to start and stop filming. I looked at the footage after recording each scene and made adjustments where necessary. I recorded each scene a minimum of two times, regardless of whether or not the first take went well, to ensure that they came out as good as possible and I would have options to choose from when editing. As an actor, I made sure that I accurately portrayed my role ...
