Introduction Blog

Hello, my name is Carl Backer. I am in the eleventh grade and I chose to take AICE Media Studies for multiple reasons. Firstly, I have some prior experience with video/media editing due to the fact that I've previously had a somewhat successful YouTube channel. I thought that my prior knowledge would allow me to get through this class a little easier in regards to the video editing portions of the class. I also chose to take this class because the information that would be taught that I was not familiar with seemed very interesting to me. I have already learned so much simply from the unfamiliar terms assignment that we had to complete earlier this semester. From what we have discussed in class, I see myself enjoying the class quite a bit. I hope to continue learning more about the film/cinema industry and improve on my media editing skills. I am looking forward to recording my own "movie" and work on those sorts of projects in the future. Though, it may not be the same due to Covid-19, I'm sure working on those projects will still be fun. I'm always thinking of cinema-like situations, so I'm to make some of my ideas come to life. I have taken classes on media editing before, but I have never taken a class that truly goes this far in depth as well as looks at the film industry. If I have any expectations from this class if would be to learn things about the film industry that I did not know. I also expect to enjoy my time recording and editing the movies that I'll be producing for this class in the future. I am also hoping that a solution to Covid-19 is found sooner rather than later. This would make life much easier for everyone, but it would also make this class a lot more comfortable. I would be able to communicate with my partners in person and meet up with them to shoot. I would also prefer in-person class so that I won't have to be so individual. For me personally, I would enjoy having teachers to remind me to do certain things. Thankfully, we can still have a similar experience at home regardless. I am very excited for this upcoming year!
